Our Design Process

At RB built we’ll work with you closely every step of the way to make the experience of building your new home as easy as possible.

  • Step 1
  • Step 2
  • Step 3
  • Step 4
  • Step 5

Identifying your needs

Bring us your wish list and we will help turn your ideas and dreams into reality. We can visit your site and discuss your specific requirements and budget.

You can choose from one of our certified plans and add your own touches to it, modifying it to suit your needs, or bring your plan ideas to us.
Once we understand your requirements, we will work with you to develop a Concept Design to suit your site, a floor plan and elevations.

The Concept Plan.

This can be achieved by either:

  1. Using your own architect or draughtsman.
  2. Choosing a plan from the Certified Builders Plan Website that can be altered to suit your requirements and needs.
  3. Or we can put you in contact with our Design Team who can draw up your requirements, needs, ideas and dreams to any specification.

Developing your plan

We will work with you closely to refine your concept plans to your exact requirements and specifications.

We will go through every detail of your new home, ensuring you get everything you require, from colours to tapware.
Once complete, we’ll then present you with your design and comprehensive specifications of all products and materials to be used.

Once you have approved the Concept Plan and are happy to proceed, a full set of working drawings is then needed.

Full Working Drawings.

  1. A full set of working drawings are completed ready to be used for the building consent process.
  2. A full true price quote is completed, and presented to you.
  3. Once this is accepted by you, then a building contract is drawn up.

The Building Contract

Once the final design is confirmed, and the agreed price is reached upon, an agreement detailing your new home and your selected specifications will be drawn up.

We deal with the council and building authorities every day and have a good understanding of the house building consent process.
We will prepare full working consent drawings and submit these on your behalf.

We will take care of the entire consenting process for you.

Building Permit.

  1. On completion of full set of working drawings they will be submitted to council for Building Consent (BC).
  2. The issue of consent generally takes up to 20 working days.
  3. Upon consent approval, we’ll contact you to arrange a meeting on site with our project manager, where we will outline the timeline for construction.

Building Begins

You’ve signed your purchase agreement. You’ve selected your floor plan and made your design choices. You’ve put down your initial deposit. Now, it’s time for construction to begin.
